In 2011, the Afghan Customs Department increased communication and information sharing with its first ever external outreach campaigns. Two external outreach campaigns were implemented, reaching people across Afghanistan with information regarding ACD efforts that benefit the country and its trade practices.
The “At Your Service” campaign focused on the benefits accrued by the government and the people of Afghanistan from the ACD’s revenue raising capacity. The campaign included a brochure, poster and billboard highlighting how revenue collected by Customs helps support various government programs, such as hospital and school construction, and financing for security and agriculture. The brochures and posters were distributed to various public and private sector entities around Afghanistan, while the billboards were posted on key trade transport routes.
